# Taxes

**Taxes are percentages applied to the rent and to fees, such as VAT. They're shared by all units of your organization; you select which taxes apply to each price.**

A tax per person per night, such as a tourist tax, is usually a fixed fee rather than a percentage. Add it as a field of the [booking form](https://www.bookingmood.com/en-US/docs/booking-form).

## [Create a tax](#create-a-tax)

- Open a unit and go to _Rent_, or open a field of the _Booking form_.
- Under _Taxes_, open the list and click _Create tax_.
- Enter the name and percentage, and choose:
  - _On top of price_: the tax is added to the price.
  - _Included in price_: the price already includes the tax, which is shown separately.

- For the rent: go to the unit's _Rent_ tab, click _Edit_ on the price and select the taxes.
- For a fee: open the field in the unit's _Booking form_ and select the taxes.

Taxes are shown per line on invoices and in the price breakdown guests see.

## [Change or delete a tax](#change-or-delete-a-tax)

Open the list of taxes from any price and edit the tax. Deleting a tax removes it from all prices, but bookings that already include it keep it.
