# Main and sub units

**Sometimes a unit is part of another unit, like rooms in a guesthouse that can also be rented as a whole. When a room is booked, the whole house is no longer available. And when the whole house is booked, every room is unavailable.**

Main and sub units are normal units. Linking their calendars makes the difference.

Link the main unit with each of its sub units:

- Open a sub unit.
- Go to _Synchronization_.
- Click _Sync Bookingmood unit_ and select the main unit.
- Repeat for the other sub units.

This imports the calendar of each unit into the other, so:

- A booking for a sub unit blocks the main unit.
- A booking for the main unit blocks every sub unit.
- A booking for one sub unit doesn't block the other sub units.

Imported bookings aren't passed on, which is why sub units don't block each other.

_Sync Bookingmood unit_ only lists units of the same organization. For units in different organizations, import the [iCal feeds](https://www.bookingmood.com/en-US/docs/synchronization/ical) both ways: the main unit imports the feed of each sub unit, and each sub unit imports the feed of the main unit.
