# Google Calendar

**You can sync Google Calendar with Bookingmood in both directions using iCal feeds: show your Bookingmood bookings in Google Calendar, and block dates in Bookingmood based on events in Google Calendar.**

## Show Bookingmood bookings in Google Calendar

### 1. Copy the iCal feed in Bookingmood

You can export the bookings of a single unit, or of multiple units in one calendar.

**One unit**

- Open a unit.
- Click on _Synchronization_.
- Click on _+ Export iCal feed_.

**Multiple units**

- Click on _Settings_.
- Click on _iCal Export_.
- To include only some units, click on the tab _Custom_ and select up to 10 units under _Units_. By default, _All units_ are included.

Google Calendar does not handle pending and cancelled bookings well, so we recommend adjusting the feed before you copy it:

- Click on the tab _Custom_.
- Under _Included statusses_, only select _Confirmed_.
- Optionally, turn off _Include booking details_ if others can see your Google Calendar. Guest names and notes are then left out of the events.
- Optionally, set _Precision_ to _Whole days_ to show bookings as all-day events.
- Copy the iCal feed.

See [iCal synchronization](https://www.bookingmood.com/en-US/docs/synchronization/ical) for all export options.

### 2. Add the feed to Google Calendar

- Open your Google Calendar.
- Click on the + next to _Other calendars_.
- Click on _From URL_.
- Paste the iCal feed that you copied.
- Click on _Add calendar_.

Your bookings now appear in Google Calendar. Google Calendar decides how often it checks the feed for updates, so new bookings can take several hours to show up there.

To check whether Google Calendar has read the feed, open the export again in Bookingmood. Under _Recently read by_ you can see _Google Calendar_ and when it last read the feed.

## Block dates in Bookingmood from Google Calendar

### 1. Copy the iCal address in Google Calendar

- Open your Google Calendar.
- Click on ⚙️ _Settings_.
- Under _Settings for my calendars_, click on the name of the calendar.
- Click on _Integrate calendar_.
- Copy the link under _Secret address in iCal format_.

Keep this address private: anyone with the link can see the events in your calendar.

### 2. Import the feed in Bookingmood

- Open a unit.
- Click on _Synchronization_.
- Click on _+ Import iCal feed_.
- Paste the address you copied.
- Save it.

Bookingmood checks the feed every 5 minutes. Events from Google Calendar block the dates of the unit, so guests can't book them. Follow the [instructions to import an iCal feed](https://www.bookingmood.com/en-US/docs/synchronization/ical) for more details.

## FAQ

### Can I edit Bookingmood bookings in Google Calendar?

No. A calendar added from a URL is read-only in Google Calendar. Make changes in Bookingmood; they appear in Google Calendar the next time it checks the feed.

### Imported events start or end a few hours off. How do I fix this?

Some calendars export times in a different time zone. Open the imported calendar under _Synchronization_ and set a _Time offset_ in hours to correct it.

### Imported events don't have the right status. How do I fix this?

Open the imported calendar under _Synchronization_. Under _Event status_, choose whether Bookingmood should use the status from the feed, or treat all imported events as confirmed or tentative.
