# Adding blocked periods

**Is your rental closed because of a roof repair, a seasonal closure or any other reason? Add a blocked period, so guests can't book those dates.**

## Add a blocked period

- Click and drag over the dates on the _Timeline_ or on the calendar of a unit. You can also click on _+ Booking_. On a phone or tablet, tap a date.
- In the form, change the type from _Booking_ to _Blocked period_.
- Optionally, add a title, for example the reason for the closure.
- Choose the status and check the dates.
- Click on _Confirm_ to save the blocked period.

### Fields

| Field | Description |
| --- | --- |
| Blocked period | The type of event. The same form also adds a _Booking_ or a _Note_. Notes don't affect availability, so they're useful for reminders. |
| Title | The title shown on the calendar, for example "Roof repair". |
| 🟢 Confirmed / 🟠 Pending | The status of the blocked period. See below. |
| Dates | The first and last dates of the blocked period. |

### Confirmed or pending

- **Confirmed**: the dates are closed. Guests can't book them.
- **Pending**: the dates are not closed yet. Like dates with a pending booking, guests can still book them, as an instant booking or a booking request depending on your [instant booking setting](https://www.bookingmood.com/en-US/docs/bookings/booking-requests-vs-instant-bookings).

## Change or remove a blocked period

- To change the dates, drag the blocked period on the calendar, or drag its start or end to make it shorter or longer.
- To change the status or title, click on the blocked period to open it.
- To remove it, open the blocked period and click on _Delete_. Deleting can't be undone.
