# Booking payments

**Every booking has a list of payments: what the guest pays, when it's due and whether it has been received. Find them on the booking, or all together under** _**Payments**_**.**

## [Payments of a booking](#payments-of-a-booking)

Open a booking. Under _Payments_ you see each payment with its amount and status:

- _Paid_: received.
- _Due_: the due date has passed and the payment hasn't been received.
- _Due later_: the due date is still ahead.
- _Not invoiced yet_: line items that aren't on an invoice yet, so the guest can't pay them. Click _Generate invoice_ to invoice them.
- _Cancelled_.

## [All payments](#all-payments)

Go to _Payments_ in the side navigation to see the payments of all bookings. Search by reference, filter by status, for example to find all payments that are overdue, and export the list as a spreadsheet.

## [Mark a payment as received](#mark-a-payment-as-received)

Payments made online are marked as paid automatically. For bank transfers, cash or payment links:

- Open the payment from the booking or from _Payments_.
- Turn on _Paid_ and set the date it was _Received on_.

## [Change or cancel a payment](#change-or-cancel-a-payment)

Open the payment to change its _Reference_ or _Due on_ date. To cancel it, click _Cancel payment_. When you change an amount, the difference is added in a new payment.

## [When an online payment fails](#when-an-online-payment-fails)

An online payment fails when it expires or the payment provider rejects it. In the unit's _Settings_ you can choose:

- _Payment expires after_: how long guests have to complete an online payment.
- _Cancel bookings when initial payment fails_: cancel the booking automatically when its first payment fails.

## [Store guest payment details](#store-guest-payment-details)

With Stripe, you can turn on _Store guest payment details for future charges_ in _Settings_ › _General_. Guests then pay later installments without entering their card again. This doesn't work with payment methods that can't be reused, such as Klarna and iDEAL.
