Accepting online payments
Let guests pay for their stay online, in one go or in installments, and have Bookingmood keep track of what's paid. This guide takes you from connecting a payment provider to your first refund.
You need the Availability plan or higher. To confirm bookings automatically after payment, you need the Booking plan.
1. Connect a payment provider
Go to Settings › General.
Under Payment method, choose a payment provider and connect your account.
Each provider's integration page explains the steps: Stripe, Mollie or Square. Payments go straight to your account; Bookingmood charges no commission.
2. Set up your invoices
Go to Settings › Invoices and enter your company details, such as your name, address and VAT number. They appear on every invoice. See Invoices.
3. Decide when guests pay
Open a unit and go to Rent. Under Payment schedule, choose when the rent is due, for example 30% at confirmation and the rest 30 days before arrival. Fees in the booking form, such as a cleaning fee, can have their own schedule. See Deposits, discounts and installments.
Want a security deposit? Add a refundable deposit to the rent or to a fee.
4. Choose how bookings are confirmed
In the unit's Settings:
Instant bookings: guests book and pay right away. The booking is confirmed when the first payment is received.
Booking requests: you review the request first. Turn on Automatically confirm booking requests after initial payment so the booking is confirmed once the guest pays.
Cancel bookings when initial payment fails and Payment expires after: free up the dates when a guest doesn't pay in time.
See Booking requests vs instant bookings.
5. Let guests know
Add messages to the unit's Message schedule with the triggers Payment due and Automated payment received, so guests are reminded to pay and receive a confirmation. See Message schedule.
6. Follow up on payments
Guests pay on their guest page. Go to Payments to see what's paid and what's overdue. See Booking payments.
7. Return deposits
After the stay, go to Refunds to see the deposits that are due. Return the money in your payment provider's dashboard, then record the refund in Bookingmood. See Refunds.
